cassettes without the intro?

09 May
Cranky questions about having to fast-forward beyond annoying opening instructions on our tapes, causes BR to caution that soon we will not have cassettes to kick around any more..
BR,
Do you have any tapes that skip the instructions? I am wasting a lot of time and batteries fast-forwarding &/or rewinding since I have heard it too many times and the music wakes me up instead of helping me to sleep. One really does not need to hear that some people prefer affirmations to guided imagery more than once.
Beth

Dear Beth,

Given the degree of annoyance you are feeling over these tapes, it’s a wonder you keep listening to them at all. Perhaps you should consider some other kind of intervention, and give up on this type of cassette altogether. Clearly you are not being helped with relaxation by listening to them! And if the music wakes you up, you probably shouldn’t be listening while trying to fall asleep.

But, to answer your question, No, we don''t have tapes that skip the instructions - we felt it important to have instructions on the program, even though we know that most people aren''t interested in listening to them after a few times. But you can of course skip tracks on a CD, and we put the instructions on a separate track on our CD version so that listeners could indeed skip them.

I''m sorry you find this so annoying, but this might be your answer. Soon we, like the rest of the audio industry, will no longer be making tapes, so this will become a non-issue.

Another possibility is that trying to relax makes you anxious and then, rather than stay anxious, you get angry. But I don’t know you well enough to make that interpretation - I just know that it does happen that way for some folks.

In any case, good luck and I hope you find something that allows you some peaceful downtime.
