I suffer with an advanced case of Fibromyalgia, complicated by (literally) everything in the book, physical and emotional. When I am tied into unbearable knots, I use Belleruth''s CDs to keep from going over the edge. Ten minutes and I’m a lot better. It''s been a goal for some time to get to a place where I am using the CDs (I have both the chronic pain and the Fibro CD) on a regular basis and not wait until I''m in a knot. I haven''t managed that yet. I most definitely believe the research about consistency, but am still searching for a way to tuck the practice of using the CDs firmly into my routine. But I did want to offer testimony to the power of imagery for fibromyalgia and to encourage others to use it.
This is for the woman who wants to incorporate her Fibro CD into her routine. I also have fibromyalgia, and I simply listen to the CD every night when I go to sleep. Sometimes I hear all of it, often not, but it certainly helps with getting to sleep and getting back to sleep if I awaken. Obviously it is helping the pain if I am sleeping.
[Ed. Note: There is some evidence to suggest that listening while asleep may be more effective than while awake, given the slower, more receptive brainwave activity in theta and delta states.]
