A report from someone who underwent major heart surgery with several life-threatening complications, tells us he found guided imagery extremely helpful, both during the surgery itself and afterwards in the step-down unit..
Just wanted to tell you that I had major heart surgery last fall (with several life-threatening complications) and your tapes were extremely helpful. My surgeon, Dr. Mehmet Oz, recommended them. I had "Successful Surgery" on as I entered the operating room. When I arrived at the CICU, my sister changed the tape to "Cardiac ICU/Rehab" , and I left that one on for the next four days while I was on the respirator.

I never once tried to pull any tubes out, which I was told was quite surprising to the medical staff. In addition to the meds I was on, I attribute my calmness and positive outlook to guided imagery. Thank you!
