A social worker uses guided imagery on herself, with the help of her guided imagery practitioner hus

A social worker uses guided imagery on herself, with the help of her guided imagery practitioner husband, when she has to have a potentially painful liver biopsy to evaluate her Hep C condition..
Dear Belleruth,

My husband and I took your 3-day workshop at NICABM in Hilton Head, with Jim Spira and Dianne Ulmer, back in 1994, and have been using guided imagery with our cancer patients with great success ever since.

We have retired to Florida where we are hospital volunteers and again, using the visualization techniques.

My husband even performed a visualization on me for a liver biopsy because I had contracted Hep C from 50 plus transfusions in ''86 for A.M. Leukemia. I didn''t feel a thing and you know how big those needles are, to take a chunk out of the liver big enough to examine for signs of bridging! We were surprised that the doctor allowed him in the operating room with me, but the nurses were enthralled with it. That was in 2003. (The Hep C lay dormant for 17 years!) Anyhow, my liver counts are normal now and I am 69 years old now and still working as a volunteer with the emotionally and physically challenged.

Thank you for all these years you have persevered, showing the medical establishment that visualization does indeed work in helping people heal themselves. It is important to be a "player" in the healing process. I know!
