A woman tells about being stopped by a policeman for driving "under the influence" of guided imagery

A woman tells about being stopped by a policeman for driving "under the influence" of guided imagery. She writes, "During my divorce and learning of my husband’s affairs, I thought I was going to go nuts with anger...."
Dear Belleruth,

I have a very funny story to share with you. During my divorce and learning of my husband’s recent affairs, I thought I was going to go nuts with anger. I purchased a guided imagery CD. As I was reviewing the information on the CD package, it was well documented not to drive or operate heavy machinery while listening to it.

However, I had so much agitation and anxiety, I huffed and puffed and said to myself, there is nothing that can relax me, especially for someone going through all the stress I was going through. I therefore placed the tape in my car and anxiously drove off for a car ride.

After careful listening, it occurred to me that a vehicle with red lights was behind me and pulled me over. I thought to myself, "wow, what did I do wrong?"

The police officer came to my window and asked, "Ma’am, have you been drinking?". I said, "Absolutely not, I never drink and drive". He then asks me to blow in his face, so I did very proudly.

The officer informs me that he has been following me for a while, and that I was driving 10 to 15 miles an hour, just like a drunk person, and that I was even weaving back and forth. So I blow in his face again, and he responds to me that it is obvious that I was not drinking - there was no odor of alcohol on my breath. I said to the officer, "I just can''t believe I was driving that slowly, especially for me and what I was going thru in my life."

Then I thought and said, "Oh my God, I have been listening to this guided imagery for relaxation, I have been going thru a lot of stress in my life, and I was warned not to drive while listening to this CD. I just can''t believe this tape actually relaxed me so much I was driving only 10 to 15 miles a hour."

The officier responds, "Well, if this tape can relax you that much, I want the name of it for my wife. I ejected it and handed it to him, and he wrote down the name of it and thanked me over and over, hoping that this recording would help relax his wife too.

Thank God I did not get a ticket. I hope you have enjoyed this story. I share it with everyone.
