Jill Chambers & Michael Peterson

09 Jan

{mosimage}We salute our compassionate, Wonder Woman friend, Col. (R) Jill Chambers, who was the prime force at the Pentagon behind Comprehensive Soldier Fitness; and the founder of This Able Vet™,  an organization that helps vets classified with disability find the right resources, training and expertise for cutting through the red tape that interferes with getting where they need to go.

She’s also an inspiring and impishly hilarious speaker on returning warrior issues, a supreme networker, collaborator and team builder; quite the jock, and one of the kindest, caring-est, most generous people on the planet.

Jill is particularly sensitive and responsive to those who suffer from posttraumatic stress, having experienced it and recovered from it herself after the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, where she had worked directly for 4 Joint Chiefs.

With her brilliant, charismatic, equally sensitive, multi-talented partner, Michael Peterson, (who also happens to be a country music star and world-class inspirational speaker), Jill co-directs Moving People™), these two bring music, joy, inspiration, love, hope, courage and support to our troops in Iraq, through the USO and the Army’s Dept of Morale, Welfare and Recreation. They also inspire and motivate high school kids all across the country, work with businesses, hospitals, nonprofits… you name it.

Their high-test creativity combines mixed media, humor, audience engagement, music and disarming true-life stories of courage and resilience in the face of adversity, to totally rock the room.  (The most telling thing I can say about Michael is that when he starts to speak, I start to tear up. That’s become my inadvertent litmus test for detecting someone who speaks from a wide open heart. Jon Kabat-Zinn has this effect on me too. One sentence and I’m all gooey in the eyes. The weep test never fails!

So, for all that they do for so many, with such heart and spirit, we offer endless props, praise and prayers!!   Thank you, Jill and Michael, for your incredible service!!
