New research shows us that imagery and music help reduce Parkinson’s symptoms .. And do check out our New Year Sale Pack Bonanzas, starting with our Building The New You Kit, for meeting new challenges and goals..
Greetings, everyone.

I’m eager to share some exciting new findings on the effectiveness of both guided imagery and active music therapy (as in choral singing, dancing, etc) for Parkinson’s Disease symptoms. Both last week and this week, we’ve posted new PD studies - last week from Israel and this week from Italy - in our Hot Research section. Both research abstracts show that simple, mind-body interventions improve symptoms over and above standard care - well over, in fact .. significantly over... They especially show that what’s called bradykinesia - slowness at initiating movements - and freezing during movement - improve markedly with a little help from the very unique sensory pathway stimulation that these interventions provide. Very exciting stuff!

We’ve also got the very effective Power Sleep Pack for those of you whose insomnia followed you from 2006 into 2007. And let’s face it, if you you’re not getting good sleep, your mood, energy, mental acuity and eventually your health is at risk. What’s nice about imagery is how easily and naturally it works to help people fall asleep, stay asleep and sleep in a deeper and more restful way. I kid you not. We hear this feedback all the time. So check this out: Team HJ has combined our popular Healthful Sleep CD, a well-established, deep-sleep inducer; KRS Edstrom’s superb guided relaxation and imagery, Sleep Through Insomnia, designed to dissolve the barriers that keep sleep at bay; and a superbly crafted and comfortable Sweet Dreams Sleep Mask.. a $44.88 value priced now at $29.95.

Now, the new year wouldn’t be the new year without fresh resolve to lose weight (yeah, me too). So Team HJ has put together a real blockbuster: the Weight Loss Support Pack, featuring our all-time, bestselling guided imagery, Weight Loss, (found effective in a controlled study at Canyon Ranch); plus Conscious Eating, Conscious Living: A Practical Guide to Making Peace with Food and Your Body, a terrific CD and workbook by Barbara Holtzman that offers a tried and true way to end compulsive and/or emotional eating; plus KRS Edstrom’s SleepThrough Insomnia , because we know that the better you sleep, the more willingly your body metabolizes calories; and finally, the awesomely gorgeous and soothing DVD, Rest & Relax, by Jim Porter,to keep your mind, body and spirit calm and uplifted and therefore away from all that nervous, self-defeating munching. Together, these first rate programs provide a powerful, holistic approach for achieving and maintaining healthy weight. Originally priced at $79.83, it’s now on sale at $59.95.

And finally, we’ve got a new Relieve Stress & Anxiety Kit, which combines a few of our favorite stress-releasing programs into one super-effective package: there’s our Health Journeys’ Relaxation & Wellness guided imagery for facing any stressful situation and promoting feelings of peace and balance; Tracy Carreon’s A Moment’s Peace: Reducing Stress and Creating Balance through Guided Visualization, a very relaxing and revitalizing set of three simple, direct, easy-to-follow guided imagery exercises; and virtuoso Emmett Miller’s Letting Go of Stress, a beautifully produced audio to quickly and masterfully soothe the listener into a deeply relaxed, healing state. This is a $51.88 value, now priced at $39.95.

OK, that’s it for now. Take care and be well and enjoy!
