A new study out of Australia shows the power of online interventions - more evidence that our supremely clever, online, mental health widget, www.DesktopSpa.com is a choice way to ban the blues and abolish stress..
Hello, everyone.

I want to mention a few books I admire - one is a very special book that I’ve recommended on the Inspiring Story page - Amy Mindell’s Coma: A Healing Journey (Lao Tse Press, Portland OR) Another is a wonderful book of poems by Margaret Dubay Mikus, called As Easy as Breathing: Reclaiming Power for Healing and Transformation (Writers Club Press, San Jose). Margaret, a PhD in microbiology and the survivor of both cancer and M.S., is a multi-talented wonder. Here is one of my favorite poems. It’s called Bird Poop.

Bird Poop

I don’t feel
That I have cancer:
Not just physically,
That surgery
Successfully removed
Abnormal cells…

But mentally, I am not
"a person with cancer";
cancer is something that
is happening to me.

If a pigeon poops on your head
You don’t become
"a person with bird poop";
It’s just something that happened to you.

You clean up,
Tell your tale
And move on.

Another terrific book is called Midlife Mamas on the Moon by Sunny Hersh (Fast Forward Publications, Long Valley NJ). Sunny talks down, dirty and very funny about everything connected to being female and over 45. It’s like having a treasured, smartass girlfriend to hang out with and consult about anything and everything. All these books are available on amazon or other online venues. Enjoy!

And do check out the new study out of Australia on our Hot Research page, that shows the power of online interventions for helping with depression. This is more evidence that our supremely clever, online, mental health widget, www.DesktopSpa.com is a choice way to ban the blues and abolish stress. Check it out for yourself. For the corporate code, just enter HealthJourneys (written just like that - it’s case-sensitive) and you can avail yourself of over 100 brief mini-treatments from 22 of the most respected practitioners and teachers in the mind-body-spirit field.

Take care and be well.
