On the Road Again… Goodbye Chicago & Providence; Hello D.C. & Hilton Head!

26 Oct

Well, on November 6-8 in Alexandria, VA, The ConferenceWorks! is offering one final weekend of my workshop for cancer survivors, their friends, family and professional caregivers, called  Gifts of the Imagination: Surviving and Thriving Beyond Cancer.

It’s for anyone touched by cancer: patients, survivors in remission, relatives, friends and colleagues; and there’s 9 continuing education credit hours for most categories of professional caregivers.  We get a lot of docs, nurses, social workers, pastors, counselors, psychologists, massage therapists, marriage & family therapists, PT, OT, Art therapists, yoga therapists, Reiki and Healing Touch practitioners, coaches… well, you get the idea.

This 9 CE workshop at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Old Town, Alexandria, features how to use guided imagery for healing and boosting immune function; for promoting emotional resilience; for coping with treatment and the possible side effects of fatigue, pain, nausea or depression; for support for the rigors of caregiving; and for dealing with the big questions of life and death.

There’s a segment on practical do's and don'ts for cancer patients and their well-meaning family and friends;  and a generous sampler of guided imagery meditations.

Oh, and don’t forget to ask about the special discount that ConferenceWorks! automatically gives to anyone enrolled in our professional program. Then on December 7-13th, I’ll be speaking at Hilton Head, at the one and only National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine’s 21st annual international conference on The Psychology of Health, Immunity & Disease – always an extravaganza of new learning opportunities and cutting edge, hands-on techniques. This year features a star-studded roster of presenters – so many I’m just going to point you here.

And I’ll be speaking on some of the extraordinary new initiatives the Veteran’s Administration and the Dept of Defense are launching with guided imagery in various, creative combinations with other techniques, for our troops and their families. My keynote is called, Imagine This: Our Military is Reshaping Mental Health Care, and will share the latest updates on the exciting new research outcomes, techniques and strategies for the delivery of cutting edge services to our troops – pre- and post-deployment and in theater as well.

Take care and maybe I’ll see you on the road!

All best,
