Well, it’s September on Martha’s Vineyard - an exquisite time of year, when the sunlight is so dazzling and sparkly, it’s hard to describe it. And it’s impossible to keep the memory of its beauty intact from year to year, so after Labor Day, it’s always a breathtaking surprise.

This year, it’s a veritable convention of ducks, geese and birds around here. Scores are hanging out on the greensward at Ocean View Park, and many are taking group swims in the ocean. They cross the roads with great aplomb and dignity, stopping traffic and attracting admiring stares.

I can’t remember ever seeing a mob of feathered friends like this. I can’t tell if they’ve just had an extraordinarily fertile summer, increasing their ranks like gangbusters, or if they’re just addled and confused by our extreme weather patterns, and aren’t sure what to do.

And speaking of weather, we’ve had so many emails and calls asking what we plan to do for traumatized Katrina survivors. We’re working on it. We don’t want to come in too early, when people are still scrambling for food, shelter, clothing, jobs and schools - that’s when guided imagery CDs are not exactly a top priority in what people want or need.

And the people who are settled somewhere and ready to do some work on their nightmares, grief, flashbacks, terror and anxiety, are so scattered, it’s hard to find them in any consistent way. But we’re figuring it out. We’re also looking to assist the early responders, including the journalists, who are now suffering from PTSD. So stay tuned, we’re on it.

On a lighter note, check out our Back-to-School Pack for enhancing school performance in your favorite school or college-age kid, and making the most of the early fall energy, focus, motivation and drive that (sometimes) marks the early weeks of a new school year!

Take care and be well,
