Well, friends, my firstborn - you know, the honking-averse, egg-lobbing, haiku guy with the quirky, best-selling book -- (see http://www.honku.org ) is getting married to a wonderful woman this week….
Hello, all. Happy Fall!

Life has been popping out of its socks around here. Whew!

For one thing, my firstborn - you know, the honking-averse, egg-lobbing, haiku guy with the quirky, best-selling book - (see http://www.honku.org ) is getting married next week. I’m wholly delighted with his superb taste in a mate (see http://www.videoroastingcompany.com) but all this excitement is also making me a little addled and spacey. I guess you could say this falls into the Big Deal category of life events. The whole family is pumped.

My husband has been glued to the weather channel, where he is busy facing down Hurricane Isabelle. He believes that as long as he remains vigilant, 24-7, the eye of this hurricane will blink first and he can keep the East Coast clear for the impending nuptials. Depending on your point of view, this is either endearing optimism or "locus of control" gone psycho.

And last week, I finally turned in my gigundo imagery & trauma manuscript to my editor at Bantam Dell. I hope she mulls it over for a while before she comes back to me with the inevitable changes. I am loving this breather, and the temporary liberation of being out from under 439 pages, 223 footnotes and 116,469 words. (But who’s counting??)

In the meantime, I’ll be sending quotes and passages to be fact-checked by the 100-plus trauma survivors and clinicians who’ve so very generously offered their stories, experiences, ideas and clinical approaches to the making of this monstrosity of a tome.

In the meantime, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve made considerable changes to the website, based on your feedback about glitches and twitches therein. For instance:

I’m very much looking forward to presenting the new Imagery/Stress/Trauma material at the Del Lago Waterfront Resort & Spa on Lake Conroe, http://www.dellago.com/index.htm ) outside of Houston on October 11-12. I cover some juicy, new content on the nature of guided imagery and why it is such a superb intervention - a "best practice", in fact - for traumatic stress. I also offer a sequenced guided imagery program for PTSD, and explain other imagery-based techniques that are highly effective at reversing the persistent, nasty misery of acute and chronic traumatic stress.

Del Lago is a major recreation spot, with excellent golf, tennis, water sports, boating and spa facilities - so bring the whole family and let them enjoy the luxurious resources from the vantage point of your ever-so-discounted conference room rate.

We’re almost sold out for this same workshop at Cape Cod (The Sea Crest in Hyannis on Nov. 1-2). And we’re filling up fast for Copper Mountain Resort in the Colorado Rockies (November 22-23) and at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM (December 6-7).

These are all described at http://www.conferenceworks.com/speaker_bnapa.cfm , and you can even register online if you don’t feel like calling them at 888.517.7089. They’ve been pretty busy over there, so if you have any difficulties reaching them, or getting a confirmation, let us know and we’ll get after them. Rae Baskin at the ConferenceWorks! will be sending out a more informative press release shortly.

Hey, I’m delighted to be able to tell all you Dr. Rox fans that now we have ALL of her enchanting guided imagery for younger kids in CD format as well as cassette. Cindy says the warehouse has just received

  • Wanka the Caring Elephant
  • The Way of the Bear
  • The Way of the Leaf
  • The Magic Seed
So we’ve now got the complete collection in CD format. Check it out at http://www.healthjourneys.com/product_catalog.asp?cr=&cc=&ca=62&cm=2&inum= .

And we continue to review new practitioners and resources to add to our ever-expanding catalog. I have 2 huge boxes of stuff to check out for our next catalog additions. Dan is very happy with the enthusiastic responses we’ve gotten so far to the new titles we just added http://www.healthjourneys.com/product_catalog.asp?cr=&cc=76&ca=&cm=&inum= by David Illig, Suzy Scurlock-Durana, Sudhakar Ken McRae and Carolyn Daitch... so we are definitely looking to add more.

And people are totally FLIPPING over the new CD music album, Inward Journey, by our bad boy genius composer, Steven Mark Kohn. Those CDs are flying outta here. (At the last ConferenceWorks seminar, this music was played during the breaks, and it was sold out by midday Saturday. People especially loved the last track, which is a beautiful, inspiring heart-opener - just incredibly pretty and soft and mellow - that Steve wrote for Peaceful Dying... even Steve likes it, which is unusual. He generally is very critical of his own stuff.)

And finally, please don’t forget that if you’re an oncology health professional, you can get a LOT of our stuff FREE for your peeps, thanks to Roche Oncology, GlaxoSmithkline Oncology, Ortho-Biotech and Amgen.

Sooooo... next time you hear from me, I will be a mother-in-law twice over!!!

Take care and be well,
