Portals to the Self: A Women’s Circle by the Sea

24 Sep

Portals to the Self: A Women’s Circle by the Sea is a powerful, unique retreat and personal growth experience for the dozen or so women lucky enough to join each other and awesome goddess-social workers and facilitators, Ceci McDonnell and Karen Rosenberg, on Isla Mujeres in the gorgeous Caribbean at the tail end of winter.

You’ll learn all you need to know about this amazing week and these gifted and generous group leaders by checking out their wonderful, smiling faces over here.

Through storytelling, movement, water play, painting, journaling, imagery and dance, the women in the group access the depth of their strength and creativity. From reflection and sharing come new possibilities, connection and joy. As the brochure says, "By naming and sharing our gifts in our sacred circle we will be enriched and enlivened, as individuals and as a joyful and potent community of women, committed to healing ourselves, our sisters and our world."

The beautiful Island of Women, Isla Mujeres, is the perfect context for such fabulous goings-on, and Na Balam, a lovely, warm and welcoming inn, provides the perfect space for it. Again, the brochure says it best: "The rooms are set in the curve of a crescent moon, surrounded by tropical gardens which engender the wild, fertile feminine and offer a glimpse of what it might be like to dwell in a time and place of women... of the Great Mother."

There’s nothing better for shaking off gray winter’s shroud and coming back to life, in all its colors. For more information, contact Karen at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or read more and drool at the photos at
